The County of Mendocino currently operates at an annual deficit.
Mendocino Crossings will generate approximately $1.8 million
per year in additional sales taxes for the County General Fund
to support needed public services and $350,000 per year in
property taxes split between the County General Fund and the
County Redevelopment Agency.

Also, the project will create an estimated 700 new jobs at
various wage levels plus potentially several hundred additional
jobs during construction.
In a 2007 study, Applied Development Economics concluded that
in 2006 Mendocino County residents spent more than $169,400,000
in retail stores outside Mendocino County . Sales outside
the county are projected to be $371,805,820 by 2026. Mendocino
Crossings has the potential to capture these sales along with
additional sales from southern Humboldt, northern Sonoma ,
and Lake Counties .
Mendocino Crossings will allow County residents to shop locally
instead of at regional centers in Santa Rosa and Marin County
.
